Services Offered
I see clients ages 16 and above for individual therapy. Our first appointment will be an information gathering session where we work to understand your unique story and create your life worth living goals. I will hope to answer any questions and provide information about the therapy process to help reduce apprehension and emotional distress related to the unknown moving forward. After that initial session, we will schedule future appointments in support of those goals.
In working with teens and young adults, I use DBT-A which involves understanding how past family relationships and interactions have shaped current patterns with goals of increasing current problem-solving skills, learning validation, and effectively managing disagreements. We will also explore how these patterns have shaped your identity and how to a live a life according to your values.
I offer DBT-informed parent coaching to parents who have emotionally sensitive children/teens. This type of therapy is designed with the goals of increasing problem-solving skills, learning how to apply validation effectively, and reinforcing wanted behavior change.
My Therapeutic Approach
Therapy is a great tool to use during difficult times, and I honor the courage it takes to start. For many, pursuing therapy is an important step on an ongoing journey of self-knowledge, healing, and growth. I help clients feel more empowered by learning about themselves, developing new ways to cope through personal challenges, and finding confidence to navigate future hardships independently with the knowledge and skills we build together.
My approach to therapy is highly collaborative and patient centered. Working together we determine your goals and the best treatment approach for your specific needs. Our therapeutic relationship will promote newfound awareness of behaviors, in addition to openness, compassion, and humanness to guide your path towards change.
As a psychologist I cultivate a safe, non-judgmental, and validating environment while also challenging and applying evidence-based treatments for your concerns. I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), an effective evidence-based treatment for emotion dysregulation, along with interpersonal, attachment, and somatic processing to treat a range of difficulties including managing and regulating emotions, identity confusion, interpersonal struggles, and trauma.
In DBT-informed treatment, our focus is balancing acceptance and change using a range of strategies including mindfulness skills, emotional regulation techniques, interpersonal tools, and distress tolerance skills.
