Michelle was diagnosed with major depressive disorder at the age of 12. The last episode was over a year long and debilitating. This is the story of a patient who invested great effort at various forms of treatment including medication management and therapy. It felt like she has tried everything she could think of. In a fit of frustration, she gave into drinking alcohol to try and drink her pain away. Thanks to TMS therapy, she was restored to her baseline. Her parents are happy to have their daughter back. Michelle became less anxious and less depressed. She found it easier to engage with people and experienced more energy. This is a major contrast to feeling she did “not want anything to do with anything.” Michelle realized she no longer has to struggle with doing basic day to day things anymore and feels she is now able to do things she never thought she could.
