We offer treatment for OCD. Now announcing the first practice and currently ONLY practice in the entire state of Wisconsin that offers transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) treatment FDA cleared for OCD!

Cathy:
I was coming out a very abusive marriage where I basically was living in a circular conversation. In social situations I just–I wasn’t myself and didn’t know it. I just wasn’t well. I was extremely nervous, repetitive. And I couldn’t sleep. I lost friends. I lost family. I got through, and that was it, with a lot of care and a lot of medications.

Aaron Tendler M.D.:
So Cathy came to our practice because she was hoping to find someone who would help her by treating her differently. What was evident was that she had obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). She had been treated with intensive psychiatric treatment. That means with multiple, multiple medications and many hours a week of face to face psychotherapy. This had been going on for over 30 years. You could treat the brain in a non-invasive fashion, which is using the Brainsway OCD treatment. We place a helmet, which–there’s a coil, or wires, that deliver magnetic pulses to a specific area of the brain, specifically the dorsomedial prefrontal cortex and anterior cingulate cortex. We give pulses to that area of the brain. It feels like somebody’s tapping on the head. Typically people start to see results after the second week, somewhere between the second and third week. And it’s sort of a gradual improvement.

Cathy:
I had never experienced anything like that. My first experience with it was, I felt it was like–it was miraculous. I had–I immediately felt a difference.

Aaron Tendler M.D.:
Now Cathy doesn’t take any medications for any psychiatric indications. she doesn’t, you know, repeatedly ask the same question over and over again. So she’s actually really doing great and functioning really well.

Cathy:
I feel like a new person. I feel like I’ve regained my confidence. So when I meet, see people now, the first thing they say to me is, “What–you look like a completely different person. What’s changed? You know, you look refreshed. You look healthy.”
